Our Services
Blue Water offers a range of flexible portfolio management and financial planning services. Whether you are looking for a properly managed portfolio, a quick check-up, or an in-depth review of your financial situation, we can meet your needs.
Investment Management Services
We offer two different investment platforms. “Total Portfolio” provides customized, comprehensive portfolio management. “Access” provides a less comprehensive “lite” version. Both are excellent choices depending upon your needs.
Total Portfolio Program:We build and manage superior portfolios by applying our steadfast investment philosophy of keeping costs low, minimizing taxes, and using effective asset allocation. Recommended portfolios are extremely diversified, yet positioned to capture excess return over the long-term. They are personalized for your situation and usually implemented across all of your investment accounts including non-managed accounts like 401(k) and 403(b) plans. This service includes access to DFA funds, extensive account and tax monitoring, periodic meetings, and periodic rebalancing and portfolio performance reports.
Access Program: Using our same philosophy and methodology, we build portfolios similar to the Total Portfolio Program. Implementation, however, is limited to the accounts we directly manage. Access to DFA funds, periodic monitoring, limited rebalancing, and an annual performance report are included with this service. This is your most cost effective solution if you mainly want a professionally-designed portfolio of DFA funds and don't need comprehensive services.
Financial Planning Services
We’ve developed and priced three financial planning services that integrate with our investment management services. We feel this gives you the best chance of successfully your meeting your goals. However, if you prefer to manage your own investments, you can combine one of these three with our Portfolio Review.
Comprehensive Financial Review: We thoroughly review the six main financial planning areas of your situation. These include Financial Goals (retirement planning, education funding, etc.), Investment Management, Tax Planning, Risk Management, Estate Planning, and Cash & Debt Management. Our process is spread out over 4 meetings. We begin by discussing your concerns, what you want to accomplish, and your financial goals. Our next meeting includes an interactive planning session and a review of capital markets and proper investment techniques. We then provide specific written recommendations on all six areas and explain what you need to do and when. Our process concludes about 2-4 months later with a review of your progress and adjustments to your plan as necessary.
Focus Plan: This review is limited in scope to 2 of the main areas of financial planning that you are concerned about. We have two meetings, one to discuss your concerns and financial goals, and one that consists of an interactive planning session, a thorough review of your selected areas of concern, and specific written recommendations. We check your progress with a follow-up phone call 3 months later. The Focus Plan may be a good option if you are only looking for professional advice in a few areas.
Express Check-Up: Suggested actions are recommended based on a completed questionnaire and a review of a few documents. We have one meeting to review these suggested actions. This may be a good option if you want a professional review but have a tight budget or limited time.
Portfolio Review: This is an hourly review of your portfolio. Based on your goals, tax situation, and risk tolerance, we recommend a portfolio based on our investment philosophy (diversified asset allocation, low-cost, tax-efficient, etc.) that you can implement on your own. This is either a stand-alone service, or an add-on to one of the integrated financial planning services.
